Can I register my domain name with you?
Yes, I am glad you asked, go to http://ml-host.myorderbox.com and you can do it there for only $14.99 a year!!
top

Do you offer unlimited bandwidth?
No, it is not possible to offer unlimited bandwidth at all. That would be lying to our customers. Like everybody else, we are required to pay for the amount of bandwidth we consume to our upstream providers. We then in turn pass this fee to our customers in order to provide enough resources to our customers. This also applies to other hosts as well, not just us.
top

Can I try your system before deciding?
Sure, we can give you a 30 day money back promise, if we fail we provide what is outlined in our website, we will refund you all your money.
top

Can I host adult related sites?
Yes, we allow adult content as long as it abides by local laws, no child pornography of any kind is tolerated! You will be terminated without a refund and will get reported to the proper agencies! We do not tolerate it at all.
top

Do you allow MP3 files? Do you allow streaming of videos?
Yes, we have no problem as long as those MP3’s and video files are legitimate. Please make sure you select the proper plan which allows it. We suggest a higher bandwidth and space plan because most likely, since its mp3s and videos they tend to be bigger files and once they are streamed they consume a lot of bandwidth.
top

How soon will my account be activated?
Most Accounts are activated instantly! In the case we need to confirm billing, we will contact you. 99% of the time, account activation is instant!
top

Do you offer money back guarantee?
Yes, we offer a 30 day money back guarantee. This is only valid when the customer is abiding to our terms during the stay with us. We also ask the user to provide the reason of cancellation.

Billing Questions

Can I prepay for an additional monthly data transfer/bandwidth?
No. If you need more monthly data transfer, you need to upgrade your account. If you need extra bandwidth for only one month, please contact sales when you are about to exceed your limit.
top

What will happen when my site go over the data transfer limit?
The system has the capability to block sites that exceed their data transfer limit. This will be done at the owner's option of course, so you will have the choice to continue using more data transfer and pay more at the end of the month, or stop using more data transfer but no need to pay more at the end of the month.

Account Questions

Can I have more than one domain pointed to my account?
Yes, for an additional one time setup fee of $15.00. Basically the added domain will clone the content of your original domain.. For example If you have http://www.x.com/ and you also have http://www.y.com/.  Your original website is x.com, but you would like y.com to have the same content. This is what you need! If you would like http://www.y.com/ To point to subdomain.x.com, we can do that too! Inquire at the sales department for further information.
top

Do you support subdomains ?
Yes, we support subdomains. The amount of subdomains wil depend on the plan you purchase.
top

What is a   subdomain?
A subdomain is any term you want before your domain. For example you have a domain
www.x.com and say you want to create another webpage. You can create a subdomain another.x.com and it can be like a whole separate webpage. In essence it is a domain as well. So  it is a very nice feature to have.

Technical Questions

What DNS should my domain name point to?

Please see your activation email, they are listed towards the bottom of the activation email titled "DNS Instructions"
top

I have been notified that my account has been set up but my site is still not active
If you have received a notification email and its been over 48 hours, it means that you either did not point your domain name to the right DNS servers or your ISP's DNS server has not yet been updated. It generally takes 24 hours for domain names to become active. This is just how the internet works; there is no way we can speed up the process.

FTP/Uploading Files

What in the world is FTP!?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the simplest and most secure way to exchange files over the Internet. Whether you know it or not, you most likely use FTP all the time. The most common use for FTP is to download files from the Internet. When downloading a file from the Internet you're actually transferring the file to your computer from another computer over the Internet. This is why the T (transfer) is in FTP. You may not know where the computer is that the file is coming from but you most likely know it's URL or Internet address.
top

Do I need a special program to use FTP?
No, but we recommend that you do find one. You may access a free FTP Manager within your control panel for you to use (with nothing to install!). However, you'll have to upload each file one at a time and it can get time consuming. There are, in fact, several free FTP Editors on the web and we recommend you to check out CuteFtp or Zdnet Downloads and perform a search for FTP editors (take note that some may require some form of payment if you like them.. but others will allow you to use them free of charge with the exception of some features).
FrontPage, DreamWeaver, CuteFTP and such utilities already have an FTP transfer tool BUILT IN to them, so no need to look for additional sources. Personally, I use DreamWeaver MX to access this site and maintain/manage all the files I need. I enjoy dreamweaver because it not only manages my FTP, but it also allows me to design HTML and such (as this site uses). Of course, I may use some other programs as well, but I could basically do everything I needed with this software

How do I login with FTP?
The most popular question here at MLHost Hosting!
With our CPanel software this is really easy to configure.

A) If you have domain access, just enter: ftp.yourdomain.com or your master IP Address provided in your activation email

B) if you haven't established your URL enter: 111.111.111
(of course, replace 111.111.111 with your server IP)

Main UserName: simply enter the username created for you on account activation or for additional UserNames: (must add within control panel) username@yourdomain.com Password: (password)

top

How many FTP Accounts do I have?
As with anything, FTP resources come at a cost. So, we have limited the number of accounts you can create per plan you purchase from us. Please look at the plan you purchased it shall say there how many ftp accounts you may use.

top

In what directory should I upload my files?
In the following folder: /public_html/ Or if you need the FULL root URL: /home/username/public_html Where username is the username given to you in your Activation Email.

top

Is there a certain file limit for my uploads?
Nope! Go nuts! Although do remember this: the larger of a file you upload the longer of a download it will be for those needing to download files.
top

I made a ftp account with a new user/pass but what is the url to his/her folder?
Simply http://www.yourdomain.com/~username/ Of course, replace username with the name of the FTP user you have created and, obviously, replace 'yourdomain' with your domain name.

FTP: HOW DO I CONFIGURE...

FrontPage
a) Installing FrontPage Extensions (if you haven't done so already):
this is as simple as a point and click and you will only need to do this ONCE. Simply login to your web based control panel. You will need to have you ACTIVATION EMAIL handy as how to access your control panel. Once you're in your control panel, you will see the vast menu of options. On the RIGHT column, there will be a category entitled: SITE MANAGEMENT. Under the 'site management' menu, click on the option: FRONTPAGE EXTENSIONS. You will be taken to a page with a button that will have a button saying "(Re)Install Extentions". Please take note of the warning on that page! Simply click on the button "(Re)Install Extensions," give the server a few moments, and those extensions will be installed! That's it!

b) Configuring FrontPage to work with your account:
You will only need to do this once. Simply configure the pages you would like to configure and when you are finished, go to the "File" Menu (on the top left in your FrontPage program) and select "Publish Web...". This will take you to a window where it will ask "Specify the location to publish your web to:". In this area you will need to type in the following:

ftp://111.111.111/public_html
replace 111.111.111 with the IP of yourserver:
this is found in your Activation Email

OR if your domain has already been updated
by DNS servers, you may enter:
http://www.yourdomain.com
replace 'yourdomain.com' with your own domain

Once you have selected this make sure that you click on "Publish" to proceed with publishing. However, we have implemented special security procedures to make sure our server knows which account you are trying to access as well as your password. This username and password combination is the same combination used for your control panel. And that's it! Give the server a moment to respond, and all the files will transfer. FOR SECURITY PURPOSES, Microsoft requires you to re-enter your username and password each time you re-open FrontPage and attempt to Publish. The FTP address (above), however, will be saved, so you only need to remember your username/password combination.

Do you have any SPAM control?
Certainly. Currently we offer http://www.ordb.org filtering for all accounts ON TOP OF the current SpamAssasin that comes a la carte with CPanel. SpamAssasin is defaulted as DISABLED. Just remember to NOT give out your email address to many web sites (as that invites spam). Also, placing an email on your web site (and your web site is popular on the web) also invites spam.

Control Panel

How do i login to my control panel?
The fun part is that it's not a mile long URL address. All you need is your URL (ex: www.yourdomain.com) followed by (:2082/)

So point your browser to http://www.yourdomain.com:2082/

Just replace yourdomain.com with your URL to your website! It's that simple! IF YOU HAVE JUST SETUP YOUR ACCOUNT, then simply enter the following until you get your domain up and running:

http://1111.1111.1111:2082/

Of course, replace 1111.1111.111 with the IP of your server provided to you in your activation email.

How do i password protect specific directories?
You can password protect folders in your account without having to deal with the hassle of .htaccess. To password protect a directory in your site, log in to CPanel. From there, click on the button labeled Web Protect listed under "Site Management Tools". On the next page, a list of all of the folders in your site will appear. Click on the one you wish to protect. On the next page, there should be a text box labeled "Protected Resource Name". In that, type what you want to appear on the password prompt that opens up when a user tries to access the directory. Then click on SAVE . Now at the bottom of that page, enter a username and password that you wish to use to access the directory and click ADD NEW USER . You may also add additional users if you wish.

IF ITS NOT HELP YOU CONTINUE READING >>>

Within your control panel, under the SITE MANAGEMENT section, there is a link that says "Web Protect." Click on this link.

You'll soon see the folder structure of your current web site (you will only see folders, no files). This will be displayed with several folder icons (pictures of a folder) along with the name of the folder (displayed to the right of the folder icon). THESE ARE TWO SEPERATE LINKS (icon and name).

First you will need to navigate to the folder you wish to password protect. If your folder is located within a folder, simply click on the folder ICON to help you navigate in and out of folders.

Once you have decided on a folder, then click on the TITLE of the folder (NOT the folder icon) and a properties menu will appear on a new page.

Configure the properties in this menu by checking the checkbox (to activate or uncheck to de-activate). CAUTION: THIS WILL LOCK ALL FILES AND FOLDERS WITHIN THIS DIRECTORY. You would then choose a name for this locked page (this will appear as the title of the password prompt your users will see; ex: "This page is for staff only!"). Once complete, click on SAVE and the lock will be activated.

Finally, you will need to establish which users you wish to have access to this directory, and then you're all set!

Domain Questions

How do i get all of my domains working with ECP?
Quite simple. If you can pull up your Activation Email, you'll notice DNS entries to plug in to your registrar. You will need to go to the provider whom you registered your domain name from (ex: networksolutions.com), login to your master domain panel and update your domains 'NAME SERVERS.'

You will then point your domain to the domain Name Server of your choice.

Of course, if you need assistance with this (as we have helped out in the past with others) please don't hesitate to contact us

How do i register my www.____.com/net/org... domain name?
You will need to register with a domain registrar at www.ml-host.com/index_domains.html
top

Why doesn't my web site work yet?
Upon activation, it will take your site 24-72 hours to update DNS entries AROUND the globe. In english, every DNS "phone book" (so to speak) will be updated within a MAXIMUM of 72 hours and at that time, anyone in the world can access your site. YOU may be able to access your site within 24 hours, but people 4 blocks from you, may not be able to access your site until 24 hours from now (it's really work how the system works).

This is true with ANY web host. SO, if you would like, you may access your web site by visiting the following URL (so you may test things out)

http://111.111.111/~username/

Just replace USERNAME with the username assigned to you in your Activation Email. and replacing the IP with the one provided in that email as well.

What are the name servers for my site?
These name servers are located in your Activation Email. They look something like NS3.something.com NS4.something.com Something like is what you will be looking for. PLEASE DO NOT ASSIGN YOUR NAME SERVERS to the ones in this example unless you are certain these are yours. Please allow 24-72 hours for global DNS updates to update your DNS entries.

How do I get files onto my web site?
Several ways! Either by uploading your files one by one via your control panel or, an easier way, by using an FTP/HTML editor to upload your files (such as FrontPage, CuteFTP, etc..). All you will need to do is configure the HTML/FTP editor to work with your site and you should be good to go!
top

What's the difference between domain pointing and domain parking?
Pointing - pointing a TLD domain name to a sub-domain giving it the appearance of an account of it own.

Parking - making a second domain name point to the same web site as another.
